Cashel Strings Debut in Science Room Session

The Taster Module finished with a performance workshop for first year music class. Here is the programme

Concert 2 Stringschool at Cashel  Community College
1 We start with a simple pizzicato on lowest string G  The backing track features bass stringed instruments in a piece by Italian baroque composer , Vivaldi . Pizzicato is an Italian word and  means to pluck the string
2 Next piece is another pizzicato piece . Foxtrot is a dance with 4 beats in a bar.
3 /4 The next thing we learned was how to hold the bow. In the next two numbers we play arco, ie with bow and we change string from D to A
5 The next step was to learn how to place our fingers .  Violin high 5  1st 2nd and 3rd finger to make all the notes of the scale    Here are all the notes on D
6 Then next all the notes on A string
7 Finally all the notes in the octave Low to High Doh
8 Here are all the notes on lowest string G in We Will Rock You
Mr Murray with Cashel Community Strings following debut
9/10  This next number  is a French Folk tune and was set to words by a 19th century English poet and became  the most popular nursery song ever.
11 The next track has a bluegrass feel  Bow River  We segue into a Bluegrass tune Bile em cabbage down using the Bow River rhythm
12 Finally audience participation number
Bile em cabbage down down
Burn them biscuits brown brown
The only tune that I can play is
Bile em cabbage down
