Following the lunchtime demo, a group of 2 dozen students gathered in the music room for the first session. Here is what we covered .

1 Names of strings 
Violin  Greedy Dinosaurs Ate Everything

Both Cello and Viola have the same strings but an octave apart  In addition to GDA they have a botton C string

Bass Same as violin but order reversed.

2 Violin Positions Rest and Play 
3Pizzicato 
Thumb in under corner of fngerboard
Vivaldi in G and Foxtrot (D and A )

Fingers well over 
First finger lying down on stick

3 Drones A long slow bow on one note played under a tune is very effective especially on lower strings
